Candidate Bios 2018
Cody has been a resident of Elgin for 12 years, he has coached 12 little league teams, and his family is deeply involved in rodeo. He owns a own local welding company and enjoys helping the community in any way he can. He has always helped the fairgrounds with the many construction projects that go on regularly. He hopes to be a good source of ideas and expertise in building, as well as other areas. He would like to add some new events to the roster for 2019.
Randy has been a resident of the Sonoita/Elgin area since 2010. He has coached for our local little league team since he arrived. Randy is a Captain at the Tucson Fire Department for 22 years. Randy, his wife Stacy, and his two boys all enjoy calf & team roping. Rodeo is a family affair. Randy hopes to share his expertise in management with the Santa Cruz County Fair & Rodeo Assn.
Harry is a Retired US Army officer, moved to Sonoita in 2014 after a successful military career. Harry is now wrapping up a second career in Higher Education Administration. He wants to contribute in a meaningful way, to his adopted community. Harry is currently running for an unopposed seat on the governing board of the Sonoita-Elgin School District.
Jim is a native to Elgin, AZ. He has been on our Board of Directors since 2015 and has been an integral part of the board ever since. Jim also serves on the Board of the Elgin Community Club. He and his wife Patty participate at many of the events at the fairgrounds. Jim is currently on the committee that is renovating our kitchen. He hopes to add his energy and enthusiasm for the 2019 season.
Doug Van Epps
Doug Retired and moved from Phoenix to Sonoita 2016, Having lived in small towns most of his life (except Phoenix) Doug wanted to move back to a small town and become active in the community He Joined the fair and rodeo association, Joined the Elgin club and volunteered for several functions for both. Doug is a US Navy Veteran, and would like to join the board to further his community involvement, to meet people and to offer any help he can.
Amanda has been on our Board of Directors since 2015. She has contributed both her time and talents to making our fairgrounds what it is today. She has been at the helm for 4-H, and is now at Patagonia Union High School as their FFA advisor. She lends her energy in many ways to the Board, during the races and the rodeo, you can find her running our main bar. During the fair, she is helping her students and entrenched in the barn. She seeks another 3 year term to continue her dedication to the community and providing opportunities for our youth.
Tommy has been a resident for 9 years. He has been involved with Rodeo at the Cow Palace, Reno, and numerous other places through out the country. He expects to help in all aspects of management for the fairgrounds, but especially in horse related events. Would also like to help with sponsorships and raising money.
