“Arizona Cattlewoman, The Remarkable Life of Carrie Swigart Fraizer,” by local author/historian, Betty Barr. Fraizer homesteaded in Elgin as a single woman in 1913, later married and became a driving force in the community. She was a founding member of the Santa Cruz County Cowbelles and the Elgin Club. Her legacy continued through her son Sam, founding Chief of the Sonoita Elgin Volunteer Fire Department and her grandson Jim Rowley who currently serves on the Board of the Fair & Rodeo Association and is president of the Elgin Club.
